This Privacy Policy explains what personal data The Filter (thetradefilter.com, the "Tool"), currently operated by Mike Marta as an individual ("we," "us," "our"), collects, why, and how you can control it. The Filter is an early, free tool and is not yet operated through a registered company; this page will be updated if and when that changes.

1. What we collect

We never ask for or store payment card numbers, bank details, or government ID, since there is currently no paid tier.

2. How we use it

• To run the Tool: compute your verdict, store your journal, render your dashboard and coach insights, and generate share cards.
• To improve the Tool: aggregate, anonymized usage patterns only (we do not read individual journals to build features unless you ask us to help debug something of yours).
• To email you, only if you opted in at signup: product updates, trade-discipline content, and community info. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
• To answer a "pro read" brief you send us.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we do not publish the names of our specific technology vendors. In general terms, we use reputable third-party service providers to run the Tool, in these categories only:

• A cloud database, authentication, and file storage provider, to run your account, journal, and rules.
• A hosting provider, to serve the website and app.
• A live market-data provider, used to check a trade's result. We send an instrument symbol only, never your identity or account data.
• A product analytics provider, to see what's used and what's broken.
• An email delivery provider, to send the emails you opted into.
• The messaging app you use to send us a brief, only for that message.

Each of these providers only ever receives the minimum data needed to do its one job, and is bound by its own security and confidentiality practices. We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the security of the Tool or its users (for example, investigating abuse).

4. Cookies and local storage

The Tool stores small pieces of data in your browser's local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember your theme, your rules while signed out, and your weekly "pro read" usage. Our analytics provider sets its own cookies/local storage to distinguish visitors. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings; the Tool will simply forget your local preferences.

5. Your rights

• Access: your journal, rules, and dashboard are visible to you in the app at any time.
• Delete: email us at mikemarta.business@gmail.com to request full account and data deletion; we will action it and confirm.
• Correct: update your rules, name, or trade entries directly in the app.
• Unsubscribe: every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

If you are in the EU/UK or California, you have additional rights (GDPR/CCPA) to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing; the same contact email handles these.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and journal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and trade history within a reasonable period, except where we must keep minimal records to comply with law or resolve disputes.

7. Children

The Tool is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Material changes will be flagged inside the app.
